A focused practice

When anxiety takes
up too much space.

The “what ifs.” The checking. The thoughts you wish you could switch off. When anxiety starts shaping your days, it can help to talk with someone who understands the patterns—and the person experiencing them.

01 / OCD

OCD & intrusive thoughts

Unwanted thoughts, checking, mental rituals and the search for certainty can leave you feeling stuck. We can explore what keeps the cycle going and practise different ways to respond.

02 / HEALTH ANXIETY

Health anxiety

If worries about your health keep pulling you back into checking, searching or seeking reassurance, we can work on how you respond to that worry and live with uncertainty.

03 / ANXIETY

Anxiety, worry & panic

When overthinking, panic or avoidance begins limiting your life, we’ll work on practical ways to respond and take steps toward the things that matter to you.

How we’ll work together

Meet Jen

Hi, I’m Jen.
Let’s make this feel human.

My goal is simple: to help you feel comfortable and to help you feel better.

I’ve practised as a therapist for more than ten years, with a decade focused on anxiety and related concerns. That experience informs how I listen, understand the patterns you’re describing and choose ways to help.

I also know anxiety through personal experience. That personal understanding complements my clinical training and informs the care I bring to our work.

You can expect a down to earth, judgment-free conversation, clear communication and room for humour. Building a good working relationship matters to me. We’ll find a way of working that fits your needs.

Let’s start with a short conversation

An approach shaped around you

A thoughtful approach.
Tailored to you.

I draw on several established therapy approaches. We’ll discuss what may be useful for your concerns, explain the work in everyday language and adapt it as we learn what helps you.

CBT

Understand the patterns

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) helps us examine the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and practise changes in everyday life.

DBT

Build useful skills

Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) provides practical skills for working with strong emotions, getting through distress and communicating your needs.

ACT

Move toward what matters

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on relating differently to difficult thoughts and feelings, while moving toward what matters to you.

ERP

Practise a different response

When appropriate, I use exposure and response prevention (ERP): working with triggers while practising leaving compulsive responses undone.

In person, in Porters Lake

A cozy place
to find your footing.

My office is a small, welcoming cabin-like space in the woods, with an electric woodstove and a relaxed atmosphere.

There’s something reassuring about having a place to come, sit down and talk. In-person counselling is a central part of my practice, with virtual and telephone options available too.

Meet Mike, our practice manager

Mike the cat occasionally graces clients with his presence while checking on the practice. He conducts his rounds outdoors and never comes into the office.

Before you arrive
